Hoover’s Journeyman Tour: 3 Continents and an Island

Jan 14, 2011

Dave Hoover, Obtiva Chief Craftsman, is conducting a once-in-a-lifetime Journeyman Tour where he’ll be meeting, presenting, learning and pair programming with developers and Rubyists around the world. (Get the full deets of his itinerary here.)

He’s traveling through Sweden, the United States (Columbus, Cleveland, Virginia and North Carolina), then heading to South Africa, Aruba, England and Scotland.

Highlights include speaking engagements at industry conferences (Oredev in Sweden, Rubyfuza in South Africa and the invitation-only speakerconf in Aruba) along with tons of pair programming, interviews with top Rubyists and meetings and presentations at some of the great software development firms around the world, including Edge Case, NimblePros, LeanDog, Entryway, Relevance, and Role Model Software

“Huge props to my friend and fellow developer Corey Haines  for being the inspiration for this kind of behavior, and of course working for a company like Obtiva, which stands behind and supports this sort of life-changing venture,” Hoover says.

With the Sweden portion already complete, he’s heading out to start his U.S. tour January 19,  accompanied at times by his nine-year-old son and twelve-year-old daughter on separate portions of the trip (these two will serve as official camera operators for his video interviews).

Check back here and on Dave's blog for updates on the Journeyman Tour and videos of his interviews with Ruby greats from around the world!
